Last year, more than 100 startups were nominated. An expert jury and a parallel online voting with more than 6,000 participants selected twelve finalists who competed before a jury for the pitch final. At the same time, the final was also voted on by an online audience.

The winner of OUT OF THE BOX.NRW and the associated prize money of 25,000 euros is Clinomic:

Their goal is to rethink critical care with a patient-centric approach. Clinomic’s Mona, is the first smart bedside device for Intensive Care Units that supports doctors and nurses directly at the patient bed. Thanks to this state-of-the-art technology, doctors can focus on bringing the best therapy for their patients.

#1 MotionMiners GmbH

The winner of OUT OF THE BOX.NRW and the associated prize money of 25,000 euros is Motion Miners:

The startup has the goal to develop the leading analysis tool for manual work processes. The company relies on wearables and beacons to anonymously record activities and process steps and to automatically analyze them with the help of an artificial intelligence developed in-house. Based on this technology, MotionMiners GmbH offers services and an analysis platform for the process analysis of manual performance processes in Industry 4.0.

The second place with a prize money of 15.000 euros was awarded to GREENbimlabs:

GREENbimlabs develops cutting-edge technology to tackle the most challenging problems of sustainability of today and tomorrow in the built environment. Their solution Aikana is the first software that can perform a comprehensive and real-time simulation of the optimization potential to the BIM designers.

The second place with a prize money of 15,000 euros goes to ViSenSys:

The startup company develops intelligent observation systems that count, for example, passengers in public transport. Possible applications for the automation of human observation are not only limited to public transport, but can also be used in the manufacturing industry for the quality control of products.

The third place with a prize money of 10.000 euros goes to ENLYZE:

ENLYZE’s aim is to make manufacturing more efficient and sustainable. They develop tools to help reduce the waste of resources within the production process and to provide insights into how companies can be more sustainable.

#3 ForkOn GMBH

Third place and therefore 10,000 euros go to ForkOn:

The startup offers a cloud-based software solution for the central management and optimization of forklift truck fleets. Intelligent algorithms evaluate the data of the forklift trucks across manufacturers, create transparency, provide concrete recommendations for action and thus optimize their use.
